Lexus adds small hybrid sedan to green fleet

The 2010 Lexus HS 250h is the latest addition to the family of hybrids comprising the GSh sedan, RXh crossover, and LSh premium sedan. The HS 250h is now the lowest priced hybrid Lexus available.

The HS 250h is based on the Toyota Avensis, a car that is smaller than a Camry and larger than a Corolla, and has been sold in Europe, Asia, and it’s new to North America.

Now let’s talk for the requisite of the Lexus look. The three-bar grill looks too Ford Fusion, and certain views of the car hint of the Honda Civic. For a premium automobile, the interior is merely nice. The seats are leather covered - expected in a luxury car - with a straightforward instrument panel incorporating a speedometer and a display that shows hybrid system functions as well as an on-board computer readout.

This “baby” hybrid is blessed with one real convenience — the entire vehicle works keylessly. The car is smart enough to sense the driver has the electronic key fob on his or her person, allowing access to doors and the trunk simply with a pull of the handles. Starting the car is also keyless.

There is no ignition switch that uses a key. To start the vehicle, one must have the key fob nearby, depress the brake pedal and push the Power button. A light appears on the dash indicating the vehicle is ready to be placed in gear.
