Lexus IS
Lexus goes head-to-head with the new Infiniti G37 droptop by introducing the IS250 C and IS 350C hardtop convertibles.
For 2010, the IS series includes the sleek new rear-wheel-drive IS 250C/350C hardtop convertibles that will definitely get the attention of shoppers seeking a luxury-oriented fun-in-the-sun ride.
A total of 15 electric motors work to raise or lower the three-piece aluminum top into its sight-unseen compartment behind the rear seats, with the whole operation taking slightly more than 20 seconds to complete.
Under the hood, Lexus uses a base 204-horsepower 2.5-litre V-6 (IS 250 and IS 250C) to drive the rear wheels (or all four if AWD is selected). More performance is available from a 306-h. p. 3.5-L V-6 that comes in the IS 350 and IS 350C. The IS 250's transmission choices consist of a six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle-shift controls. The IS 350 gets the automatic.
And of course, who could forget the 416-h. p. IS F with its 5.0-L V-8 and eight-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission. Vroom!
